Inclement Weather Policy (2010-2011)

Amarillo College will follow the Amarillo Independent School District in regard to canceling classes on its Amarillo campuses in the morning hours of the 2010/2011 school year. AISD will call one of the Amarillo College contacts, beginning with the chief of communication and marketing, by 6:15 a.m. ONLY if the school district IS CLOSING. AISD does not start late....either classes are cancelled or classes begin on time. AISD does not call the media if it decides to stay open on a snowy day. They call only when there are cancellations, and Amarillo College will follow suit.

Decisions regarding AC night class schedules will be made by 3 p.m. on the day of the inclement weather.

Information on closures or cancelations will be dispersed via AC Alert, campus e-mail, AC's website, myAC, social networking sites and local media.

If AC closes due to severe weather, all Amarillo campuses will close. No classes will be in session, and no employees will be expected to work unless otherwise instructed by their supervisors. Decisions on closing Hereford and/or Dumas campuses will be made by the executive directors of those campuses and the announcements will specify those campuses.
