Camera Clubhouse written in sand

The Camera Clubhouse is an outreach program with the students of San Jacinto Elementary School. Twice a month photography students from Amarillo College go to the elementary school and teach the kids about photography as a part of the after-school program. The first year we had did a dress-up project entitled, When I Grow Up... The students were encouraged to explore their dream careers by dressing the part, and then by considering what it would take to accomplish their goals. This project was directly related to the "No Excuses University" philosophy adopted by the school. In the Fall of 2010, we raised money for a project that would enable us to give each child a  camera that they could take off-campus. Every other week AC students critique their images, teach workshops on new techniques, and show photographs by professional photographers. We are all having a great time, and learn from each other along the way.

We would like to thank Pam Lary Photography, and Vivitar, for their generous support.
