The hospitals affiliated with Amarillo College function as clinical facilities for students in allied health related academic and continuing education courses. The hospitals require criminal background checks on incoming students to insure patient safety. If you are considering enrolling in Phlebotomy, CNA or Health Unit Coordinator courses you will be required to submit to a criminal background check. You must request your background check a minimum of ONE week prior to the start of the course to allow sufficient time for review by the hospital. A background check typically takes 3 – 5 business days to complete and cost $52.02 ($48.50 plus state tax for students living in Texas).
The background checks are conducted by PreCheck, Inc., a firm specializing in background checks for healthcare workers. Your order can be made by mail with money order; by fax with credit card payment information; or online with credit card payment information through PreCheck's website. PreCheck forms are available at the Center for Continuing Healthcare Education office, located at the AC West Campus, 6222 West 9th, Amarillo, TX.

The payment of $52.02 ($48.50 plus state tax for students living in Texas) can be made securely online with a credit or debit card. You can also pay by money order, but that will delay processing your background check until the money order is received by mail at the PreCheck office. You will be provided an order confirmation number and instructions on how to check the status on the completion of your report by email.
PreCheck will not use your information for any other purposes other than a background check. Your credit will not be investigated, and your name will not be given out to any businesses.
