Juleah Nusz gave the Amarillo College Fencing Association its first-ever national championship when she captured a Gold Medal at the U.S. Fencing Association’s Summer National Championships July 3 in Grapevine.
The 17-year-old Nusz claimed the medal in Junior Women’s Epee, a classification for women between 13 and 19 years of age. The event featured 100 fencers from all over the U.S.
Her fencing coach, Chuck Slaughter, said winning a Gold Medal at this prestigious event is an important first step in Juleah’s quest to qualify for next year’s Junior World Championships.
