The Texas Association of Developmental Education (TADE) has selected Amarillo College to receive the TADE Developmental Education Best Program Award for 2009.
The award, which recognizes “exemplary programs” in Texas, consists of a plaque and $500 to benefit the winning developmental education program. It will be officially presented to AC representatives Friday, Oct. 23 at a Conference in San Antonio.
This is the most recent in a series of special honors received since 2008 by the developmental education programs and AC’s ACcess Division.
In January, AC’s Developmental Math Program received the prestigious John Champaign Memorial Award for Outstanding Developmental Education Program. That award is given annually by the National Association of Development Education (NADE), which last February awarded AC the highest level (Distinguished Level) of certification in each of its three developmental disciplines—math, reading and writing.
Only 14 of the nation’s colleges and universities had received NADA’s Distinguished-Level certification since 1911, and AC became one of only two to receive the coveted recognition in all three developmental disciplines.
