Welcome to the Amarillo College HelpDesk

 

Now that the semester is off to a good start, you may be wondering:
 
·         I don’t remember the code to access my voice mail.  Who do I call to get that reset?
·         What is my user name on the development WebCT server?  Who do I ask about that?
·         I can’t print any more.  I wonder how I get help with that.
·         I wish I always had a parking place near my building.  Who could set that up for me?
 
ITS can’t help you with the last one, but we can help with all the other items in the list and many other IT-related (computer and audio-video)problems. 
 
Here’s what you can do to get help:
 
1.      Call AskAC at 371-5000 / 371-5373.  The agents there are the first line of support for technology-related problems.  If they don’t know the answer to your problem, they will find the answer or enter a work order to alert ITS staff that you need help.
2.      Email  HelpDesk IT at helpdesk-it@actx.edu .  Your email will generate a work order for theITS HelpDesk staff and will berouted to the right branch of ITS for the kind of help you need.
 
Please do not call or email ITS staff members directly.  The most efficient means of getting help is to call AskAC or email the ITS HelpDesk.  If you email or leave voice mail for a staff member who is away from the desk helping others, at training, on vacation, or out sick, it may be days before your request is noticed.  A call to an ITS staff member does not move your request ahead of those who followed the appropriate procedure.Following one of the methods above will get your request to the right people quickly.
 
Remember that a reboot of your machine will solve many problems; power your machine completely down, wait for a couple of minutes and power it back up. If the problem continues, then call the HelpDesk or email in a workorder request. Also, review the FAQ sections as your problem may already have a solution posted in a FAQ.
