Continuing Education
Education is more than a one-time experience leading to a diploma or degree. In today’s world of accelerating change, training and learning have become a lifelong process. In response to this reality, Occupational Education offers courses designed to improve occupational competence or to help with employment advancement. There is a wide array of courses supporting the professional and occupational requirements for our students: Public Offerings, Certification Preparation, Mandated Continuing Education, and Online Certification Courses.
Courses
Continuing Education offers entry level courses such as Small Engine Technology and Landscaping. These courses are designed to help students gain the necessary skills for entry level jobs in a short amount of time. Most of the entry-level courses can be completed in 14 weeks or less.
Certification Preparation
Continuing Education offers several Pre-Certification courses to prepare the professional to sit for national certification examinations such as Human Resource Certification (HRCI), Project Management (PMP), and Fundraising Certificate for non-profit management, CPS®, and Arborists. These certification preparation courses are offered online and in the classroom. They are designed to prepare the student to sit for a national certification exam in their chosen profession.
Mandated Continuing Education
Most licensed professions are required to complete a certain number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during a set timeframe. Continuing Education is approved by the State of Texas to offer several of these mandated CEUs such as Irrigation, Educators, and Accountants.
Online Certification Courses
Continuing Education partners with Gatlin Education Services, TheCourse, and the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM), 360 Training to offer online certification courses. These online courses offer the student an alternative to traditional classroom courses to prepare for national certification exams.
