Thank you SO much for your short-notice responses to Mindfest at the Discovery Center this Saturday! Not only do we have a great group of students for the 11:00 AM performance, but the willingness of our middle and high school students to help with the Amarillo Symphony Petting Zoo has just made me smile!

Here’s the scoop –

Saturday, August 21
Discovery Center

Wear your Suzuki t-shirts! If I missed getting your pre-ordered (last May) new shirt to you at registration (you good Tuesday morning folks!), I will try to deliver those to you on Thursday and Friday. Otherwise, any Suzuki shirt will be great!

Your t-shirt will help identify you at the Discovery Center front desk. Tell them you are volunteering with the Amarillo Symphony Petting Zoo and Performance. We will meet in the Auditorium (after entering the building, go to the FAR right end of the building) and the front desk folk can help direct you there. I know you will be extra courteous with them, and I’ll try to be sure they expect so many of us walking through as families.

We are helping the Amarillo Symphony with their instrument petting zoo, and they will provide some set-up and some adult musician volunteers. There will be full size and smaller violins and cellos for students to try. Our jobs will be to encourage children attending the Mindfest activities to try out string instruments, help them get a basic bow hold and instrument posture, let them have some fun, and keep the instruments safe J.

Thanks again for your readiness to start the year off with some fun!
