- The Amarillo College Suzuki String Program believes that music is life training, important to all children regardless of economic status.
- All children can develop their abilities in music to a higher level through the “mother tongue” approach of Dr. Suzuki.
- The AC Suzuki String Program strives to provide excellent instruction to all ages in a nurturing environment.
- The program offers financial aid to qualifying students.
- The program creates a rich musical environment in the home and community.
Sustaining Excellence
The AC Suzuki String program offers excellence in instruction for students of all ages, from early childhood to young adulthood. it is more than a place to learn to play an instrument; it is a special place where young people learn important values, make lifelong friendships and flourish as musicians.
- Maintain a quality music curriculum grounded in the philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki, for violin, viola and cello students.
- Provide financial aid to students who could not otherwise afford private lessons.
- Offer a comprehensive curriculum of early childhood music, beginning theory, orchestra and small ensemble classes through which youngsters can develop an excitement for learning, and experience the richness of music for the first time.
- Attract and retain quality faculty who have credentials registered with the Suzuki association of the Americas and who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each and every student they teach.
How Your Dollar Can Help
Donations to the AC Suzuki program are made through the Amarillo College Foundation and are tax deductible and may be made to one of the following existing accounts:
Suzanne Grooms Suzuki Endowment Fund
Established by and named for AC Suzuki program founder Suzanne Grooms, this fund is established in perpetuity with only the produced income being used to help offset the gap between tuition and operating expenses. This includes bringing faculty salaries to a level more commensurate with their expertise and providing training scholarships for program teachers and students.
Suzuki String Program Endowment Fund
This fund is established in perpetuity with only the produced income being used to help offset the gap between tuition and operating expenses. This includes providing financial aid for deserving children and work-study opportunities.
Suzuki Support Fund (Non-Endowed)
Gifts made to the Suzuki support Fund may be used for immediate program needs and projects, including:
- Program development - Early music theory and reading programs, student ensembles and orchestra, parent education offerings, communications and materials.
- Student Enrichment - Guest clinicians in violin, viola and cello Suzuki teaching are brought in annually to enhance student learning.
- Student Scholarships - Financial aid for program tuition and outside summer music offerings given annually, enhanced by the endowments above.
