Here are the Amarillo College Suzuki String Program numbers as we began the fall 2008 semester:


Enrollment & Classes

102 students
  - 18 cellos, 17 violas, 65 violins
  - 17 high school, 24 middle school, 45 elementary school, 12 preschool

28 students waiting on the placement list.

2 violin teachers
2 violin/viola teachers
2 cello teachers
7 additional supplemental group & orchestra teachers

In addition to weekly private lessons, students are dvided by instrument into weekly repertoire groups (4 violin, 1 viola & 2 cello groups).  We also currently offer 2 Orff classes, 3 pre-reading classes, 2 reading/orchestra classes, and advanced ensemble coached by private teachers.

We bring in Suzuki-trained clinicians to supplement student learning each year for our workshop.



Budget

Annual expenses just over $90,000.

Budget funded approximately:
  70% by student tuition & fees
  15% by endowment fund interest (this will be dramatically lowered, if any funds are available at all in 2009-2010)
  15% by yearly fundraising events, including Barnes & Noble fundraiser, student Practice-s-thon, any benefit concertsor grants
