Summer Institutes are a great place for the entire family to meet new people, have fun with old friends and play music in a great enviornment.


Amarillo College Music Summer Camps (grades 6-12)

Music Theory Camp (grades 7-12)            
Expand your knowledge of fundamental aural and written music theory content, including intervals, chords, scales, keys, basic harmony, simple & compound meter, melodic & rhythmic dictation, and more.

Jazz Combo Camp (grades 7-12)
For students looking to expand their knowledge of jazz.  All instruments welcome. Students must furnish their own instruments.

Session:  June 12-15 (M-R), 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (2 hours only)

Band Fundamentals (grades 6-8)         
For Beginning and intermediate woodwind, brass, and percussion students. Students must furnish their own instruments.

Acoustic Guitar Boot Camp (grades 7-12)
Students will focus on developing classical playing and reading skills. Students must furnish their own instruments.

Session 1:  July 10-13 (M-R), 8:00 AM-12:00 PM  Beginning (0-1 year playing experience)

Session 2:  July 17-20 (M-R), 8:00 AM–12:00 PM  Intermediate (2+ years playing experience)

Session 3:  July 24-27 (M-R), 8:00 AM-12:00 PM  Beginning (0-1 year playing experience)

Session 4:  July 31-Aug 3 (M-R), 8:00 AM–12:00 PM  Intermediate (2+ years playing experience)

Piano Class for Beginners  (grades 7-12)
Students will develop classical performance and reading skills on piano.  No experience necessary, but beginning to intermediate students are encouraged to attend.  Space is limited.

Guitar Ensemble (grades 7-12)
Students will develop skills in reading traditional sheet music through guitar ensemble literature.  One year of experience reading standard notation is expected. Students must furnish their own instruments.

Session 2:  July 24-27 (M-R), 1:00 PM –5:00 PM

High School Choir Camp (grades 9-12)
Features work on the Texas all-state literature as well as training in vocal practice techniques, diction, and sight-singing. Students will become familiar with TMEA all-state choir literature, which will be rehearsed along with other appropriate choral works for a Friday afternoon concert.  Lunch provided.
