Occupational Spanish

Occupational Spanish

Occupational Spanish provides communication skills for employers and employees. This training provides an economical way to learn key phrases needed to perform basic functions safely and efficiently in a variety of occupations. No previous Spanish knowledge is necessary.

Benefits of Occupational Spanish:

  • Improve communication with Spanish-speaking clients, customers, co-workers, and/or patients.
  • Improve workplace safety.
  • Take advantage of cost-effective training.
  • Project a positive image to the Hispanic community.
  • Increase awareness of the Hispanic culture for improved inter-cultural relationships.

Occupational Spanish classes can be customized -- If your business needs to train 6-10 employees to work more effectively with Spanish-speaking people, AC can help. Classes can be scheduled at the Business & Industry Center or they can be held at your place of business.  Course content is customized according to the needs identified by the students themselves, their supervisors, and/or their employers.

About the curriculum -- The Occupational Spanish curriculum requires no previous Spanish knowledge or experience. The materials are designed for adult learners with short periods of study emphasizing oral practice/drills. Workplace language and phrases are emphasized with a learner-friendly text in generic Spanish dialect. Follow-up audio tapes or CDs are provided to help participants retain vocabulary and phrases learned in class.
