A pair of influential state representatives will discuss issues of regional and legislative relevance when the Texas Tribune brings its statewide conversation series – and free lunch for all attendees – to Amarillo College.

Evan Smith, Texas Tribune co-founder and CEO, will moderate A Conversation with Reps. Four Price and John Smithee. The current-affairs forum is slated from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the Bud Joyner Auditorium at AC’s Downtown Campus, 1314 St. Polk St.

The event is free and open to the public; however, to obtain an accurate headcount, the Texas Tribune is asking those who plan on being there to RSVP at texastribune.org/events. Please note: seating is limited, so RSVP today.

The Conversation will begin at noon.

Smith, also the host of “Overheard with Evan Smith,” which airs on public television – including Panhandle PBS on Thursday nights – helped launch the Texas Tribune in 2009. The nonpartisan media organization conducts dozens of on-the-record, interactive public events annually in the form of conversations with public officials and newsmakers.

The Conversation at AC features Rep. Smithee, a graduate of AC and its 2012 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, who has represented House District 86 since 1993; and Rep. Price, the House District 87 representative since 2011.

“Amarillo College is honored to have been selected by the Texas Tribune to host this distinguished event,” AC President Russell Lowery-Hart said. “I hope the Panhandle Community will join us in filling our Downtown Campus to the brim for what is certain to be a meaningful and highly informative dialogue.”

A Conversation with Reps. Four Price and John Smithee is being presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Texas and supported by Amarillo National Bank and State Farm.
