Friends of Amarillo College’s East Campus will gather there from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 to celebrate the completion of two construction projects that will significantly enhance the Aviation and Diesel Technology programs.

The event is a joint celebration that includes the new, stand-alone Harrington Aviation Building, and a 14,000-square-foot expansion of the Transportation Career Center, where students in the Kritser Diesel Program will be the chief beneficiaries.

The celebration will take place within each of those adjacent locations (see map) on the south side of NE 15th Avenue at the East Campus.

A $1.5 million gift from the Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation paved the way for construction of the Harrington Aviation Building, a 7,900-square-foot hangar for aviation training. Expansion of the Transportation Career Center to benefit the Kritser Diesel Program was largely made possible by a $2.5 million grant from the Amarillo Economic Development Corp.
