Veterans of Amarillo College Together, a student organization at AC, will lead a Veterans Day observance at noon Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Clock Tower on the Washington Street Campus.

The event will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather – to the first floor of the Ware Student Commons.

The ceremony will commence with a presentation of colors by a VFW Color Guard, and Diana Barr of the AC Concert Choir will sing the National Anthem. The ceremony will conclude with the playing of “Taps.”

The event will feature a traditional table presentation to honor the Missing Man, and a Gold Star family will be honored – Vicki Barker, an AC student who also works in the advising department, and Gary Barker are Gold Star parents.

The AC Diversity Committee will distribute Gold Star Ornaments.

Also, a representative from Congressman Mac Thornberry’s office, Melissa Kalka, will speak on his behalf.

The public is invited to join the organization and Amarillo College in honoring all veterans at this special event.
