The highly anticipated event is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 on the Oeschger Family Mall at AC’s Washington Street Campus.
Tickets are $50 per person and all proceeds will benefit AC students. For tickets or additional information, please call the AC Foundation office at (806) 371-5107.
The College will take this opportunity to honor Shanna Peeples, AC Distinguished Alumna of the Year, as well as a deserving group of life-changing educators who were nominated for special recognition by friends of the College.
Peeples, a superstar on the Palo Duro High School faculty, completed her associate degree at AC in 1995. She was presented with the National Teacher of the Year award on April 27, 2015 by the President of the United States, Barack Obama.
That ceremony at the White House was the beginning of a yearlong sojourn for Peeples, as a full-time national and international spokesperson for public education.
When her term as Teacher of the Year expired earlier this year, her ambassadorship didn’t skip a beat; she was named a Global Learning Fellow by the National Education Association and this past summer visited schools in China and Peru.
Her passion for education knows no bounds, and she even writes an occasional scholarly blog for the Huffington Post. Now she has added Distinguished Alumna to her burgeoning résumé.
Amarillo College proudly invites you to attend Celebration of Education and support students just like Shanna Peeples once was – a student who emerged from AC to become an educational standard bearer for a city, a state and a nation.
