Amarillo College strives to remove barriers of poverty that could impede student success, and now, with a generous gift, can provide even more support for students when unexpected emergencies arise.

Success Is AC NewsThe AutoInc Family of Dealerships will present the college a gift of $75,000 to further support AC’s Advocacy and Resource Center. The Advocacy and Resource Center supports AC students’ emergency needs through a food pantry, clothing closet, housing needs, and other social services. This past academic year, the ARC assisted over 21% of the AC student community. This fund helps AC students with unexpected costs that could prevent them from continuing their educational pursuits.

“I am beyond grateful for the generous support of AutoInc,” said Russell Lowery-Hart, president of Amarillo College. “The college believes in eliminating any barrier that may prohibit a student from finding success. This gift will help so many students find their own success and is a great example of how our community supports one another.”

“It was a combined effort of the sixteen AutoInc Family of Dealerships that made this gift possible,” said Joe Harless, general manager Texas Dodge.

“Here locally that includes Texas Dodge, Tri-State Ford, All Star Dodge, Autoplex BMW, Amarillo Hyundai and All Star Family Ford.”

Representatives from AutoInc, will present Lowery-Hart with the gift at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20 on the Oeschger Family Mall, which is located on the Washington Street Campus of Amarillo College.

“I am truly appreciative of the all the members of AutoInc for their support of our mission at the College and, ultimately, the future of the Amarillo community,” Lowery-Hart said.
