by Joe Wyatt Published March 4, 2020 The Communications and Marketing Department at Amarillo College is pleased to announce that it collected a total of 11 awards, including five venerable Gold accolades, in the 35th annual Educational Advertising Awards. Along with five Gold awards, AC captured four Silver awards and one each in the Bronze and Merit categories. The awards were announced in late February. Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report, is the largest and oldest educational advertising awards competition in the country. Judging was performed by a national panel that included professional marketing and advertising professionals who culled through more than 2,300 entries from over 1,000 colleges and universities from all 50 states. Entries are judged on creativity, marketing execution and message impact. In capturing one of the Silver awards, the College collaborated with Creative Cannon*— an advertising and creative agency in Amarillo. The Education Digital Marketing Awards recognize “exceptional quality, creativity and message effectiveness” among educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media. AC emerged from a large pool of distinguished contestants that submitted more than 1,000 entries to capture the following Gold Awards: Total Digital Marketing Program – Amarillo College Digital Marketing Program Social Media – Amarillo College Social Media Content Online Publication – Teaching for Transformation Magazine Digital Video – Thank You for Being Our Student Digital Short Video – AC Library: More than just Books “These prestigious awards are gratifying, not only for their affirmation of what we are doing today, but for what our marketing approach portends for the future of Amarillo College,” said Kevin Ball, AC’s vice president of communication and marketing. “I believe the College is poised to excel as the digital world evolves because we are always willing to explore the boundaries of what is possible.” Submissions for the Education Digital Marketing Awards were reviewed by a national panel of industry experts and were judged against entries from similar-sized institutions. Awards were issued for entries that received top marks from judges placing them in the top 16 percent of the nation for advertising excellence. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.
