AC’s celebration, Feb. 21-24, is being presented in conjunction with the National Society of Professional Engineers annual Engineering Week, and this year’s theme is Reimagining the Possible.

The celebration at AC will commence with a pair of hour-long panel discussions featuring engineers with a wide variety of expertise and employment – from Sandia National Laboratories, Excel Energy, Pantex, the U.S. military and more.

The panel discussions, each featuring a different set of panelists, will be presented from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21 and Tuesday, 22 in the Oak Room on the second floor of the College Union Building on the Washington Street Campus.

“In the spirit of imagination, Amarillo College will celebrate the tremendous efforts of area engineers,” said Vanessa Miles, instructor of engineering and coordinator for Engineering Week.

“The panelists will share many options one can pursue with an engineering degree,” she said, “including, but not limited to, earning a Ph.D., serving as a subject-matter expert, becoming a professional engineer, an engineering manager, or an officer in the military. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.”

At mid-week, engineering students are invited to learn about employment opportunities at an engineering job fair featuring representatives from local companies. It is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the Ware Student Commons.

And from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, also in the Ware Student Commons, folks from seven universities will be on hand for an engineering transfer fair. Schools are: Midwestern State, Prairie View A&M, UT–San Antonio, Texas Tech, West Texas A&M, New Mexico State, and New Mexico Tech.
