Women who want to learn about technical-career opportunities long associated with the male gender will get that chance on Friday, March 31 when Amarillo College hosts “Women in Industry” on the East Campus.

TE WomenThe event is free and open to the first 55 women who register. It is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes breakfast, lunch and a great deal of active participation.

Participants will engage in intensive career exploration that includes hands-on seminars related to occupations in machining, welding, instrumentation and electronics, diesel and automotive technology, aviation maintenance and more.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. in the East Campus Student Services Center. An official welcome will be extended at 8:30. Attendees will then be divided into small groups and participate in hands-on seminars in and around the Transportation Career Center and the Manufacturing Education Center – from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., when lunch will be served.

Everyone will have a chance to get their hands dirty at each of the career-specific stations on the tour.

After lunch, a Women in Industry panel discussion will feature representatives of local AC industry partners like ASARCO, Midwest Machine, Aardvark Automotive, Premier Truck Group, and Phillips 66.
