This learning cohort will help participants learn about the current state of English Language Learners (ELLs) in the USA, Texas, and Amarillo area. Currently, 16% of all students in the Amarillo area are English Language Learners (ELLs). Soon, these students will transition to a higher education setting. In this cohort, we will explore how ELLs have been supported in school, and how AC can support these capable learners to success.
In this PLCohort, participants will be able to
- Identify the needs of ELLs as they transition to Amarillo College.
- Discuss the importance of culturally responsive teaching.
- Research effective learning strategies for ELLs.
- Practice strategies for teaching ELLs.
- Apply instruction strategies in courses to ensure student success.
