I am over the age of 18, and living on my own, why do I need my parent's information on the FAFSA? Shouldn't I be considered independent?

The Department of Education (DOE) requires students to provide parent information until the age of 24. There are some special circumstances under which a student could file as independent. Contact our offices if you feel you have a special circumstance that is not addressed under the FAFSA or if you cannot obtain parent information.
