You MUST be a current student of Amarillo College. The button below takes you to a login page. You must log in to apply. The Apply Now link in the right hand side of the menu bar is the Application for Admission. You should only complete that if you have not yet Applied to Amarillo College.

Transcripts

In order for academic records to be evaluated as part of the Health Science admission process, the Amarillo College Office of the Registrar must receive all official transcripts (lists of courses taken, and credits and grades earned, degrees awarded, etc.) of the student's college level work.

Complete the Amarillo College Application for Admission to Health Science Programs

Log in link is located in the upper right hand corner. Use your ACNetID and Password. After you log in, the Apply button is in the upper right menu. Complete and turn in the following items within the application:

  • Specific Program Requirements
    Successfully complete any other specific requirements for admission to the student's preferred Health Sciences program(s). The student may contact the Health Sciences Advisor at 806.354.6007 for more information.
  • Texas Immunization Requirements
    Complete all required immunizations and obtain immunization documentation. Please note: Some immunizations require a series of immunizations given over several months.
  • Proof of Varicella (Chicken Pox) immunity as shown by (a) physician documented history of disease (b) documentation of two immunizations or (c) a serum titer confirming immunity.
    AND
  • Proof of (a) a complete (3 injection series) Hepatitis B Vaccination or (b) a serum titer confirming immunity.
    AND
  • Proof of (a) two (2) Measles Vaccinations (may be part of a MMR) or (b) a serum titer confirming immunity.
    AND
  • Proof of (a) two (2) Mumps Vaccinations (may be part of a MMR) or (b) a serum titer confirming immunity.
    AND
  • Proof of (a) one Rubella Vaccination (may be part of a MMR) or (b) a serum titer confirming immunity.
    AND
  • Proof of Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis vaccination within the last 10 years. (Tdap,TD booster every 10 years.)
    AND
  • Proof of (a) current negative TB test or (b) chest x-ray that reports negative for TB. (Must be performed annually, but does not have to be submitted until immediately prior to the first day of class, if accepted into a program)
    AND
  • Proof of (a) current Influenza vaccine, as required by practicum/clinical facilities. (Must be taken annually)
  • Release and Waiver of Liability
    Complete the Release and Waiver of Liability
  • Health Sciences Policy For Criminal Background Checks Complete the Health Sciences Policy for Criminal Background Checks. Some criminal histories disqualify students from completion of Health Sciences programs. If the student has concerns about the Criminal Background check, he/she should check their Criminal Background Report to confirm eligibility for Health Sciences programs. Completion of the background check is required for finalization of acceptance into a program.

HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM POINT SYSTEM

The following point system will be used to select students for each Health Science Program and is used for course completion for general education and specific accreditation requirements:
Grade of “A” for courses = 10 points
Grade of “B” for courses = 7 points
Grade of “C” for courses = 4 points
(NOTE: Students will receive the highest grade for courses earned per category and/or repeated.)

  • SOCIAL & BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS
  • MATHEMATICS REQUIREMENTS
  • LANGUAGE, PHILOSOPHY, CULTURE orCREATIVE ARTS
  • Speech Requirement
  • Anatomy and Physiology I
  • Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Chemistry/lab
  • Introductory Physics

ADDITIONAL POINTS

  • All general/related courses completed (10 points)
  • Completion of ALL required Math/Science Courses With grade of “B” or higher (10 points)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above (10 points)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 to 2.9 (7 points)
  • Honors or Previous Healthcare Certification or Healthcare Endorsement/Academy Completion (5 points)
