2007—Dr. Emily Archer, obstetrician

Dr. Emily Archer earned an associate degree from Amarillo College in 1977. She continued her education at the University of Texas and Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After serving internships and a residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, she returned to Amarillo to become the first female obstetrician gynecologist in private practice in the city. While at Amarillo College, she was named Outstanding Chemistry Major and inducted into the Honor Society. She has served on the Planned Parenthood Medical Advisory Board and was awarded the Early B. Lokey Service Award in 2003 for exemplary service to Planned Parenthood. Emily also serves as editor in chief of the Potter-Randall County Medical Society Panhandle Health magazine. AC named her father, Dr. Richard K. Archer, a Distinguished Alumnus in 1995.
