2. Submit transcripts to the registrar's office.

Students may apply to start in the Fall or Spring semester. Students transcripts are reviewed and points awarded based on classes taken and grades received. Students are also asked about previous or current experience in the industry. Students are chosen based on points, relevant experience, and the personal interview. There are 30-35 students accepted into the program each semester. Students are responsible for finding their own internship/clinical sites.
All students accepted into the program must complete an on site New Student Orientation at Amarillo College's West Campus. The orientation is a 2-day program where students learn more about the mortuary science industry, complete paperwork (including clinical paperwork), and finish any pre-program requirements, as well as have an opportunity to purchase the textbooks, if necessary. The fall orientation is typically in early August; the spring orientation happens in early January.
To continue in the program, a student may repeat a MRTS course only one time and may repeat no more than two MRTS courses while enrolled in the program. The term “repeat” shall be interpreted to mean re-enrollment following withdrawal, drop or unsatisfactory grade. A grade of C or higher is required for satisfactory completion of all major course requirements and PSYT 1325. Students who receive an F in two or more major course requirements or PSYT 1325 will be removed from the program. A student will have 36 months to complete all major requirements.
