Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technology Program at Amarillo College is the only ASHP/ACPE accredited program in the Panhandle. The program can be completed in just one year. Graduates will have earned an ACPE certificate in Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique and gained valuable hands-on experience on one of the most up-to-date medication-dispensing systems used in the industry today: the Pyxis MedStation 4000. What can you do as a certified Pharmacy Technician?

A pharmacy technician is on the cutting edge of the healthcare process. You will review prescriptions for accuracy and help licensed pharmacists in filling them, primarily in hospital and retail settings. Other opportunities exist in long-term care, mail-order businesses, pharmaceutical research, and even in education. People depend on the all-important work of pharmacy technicians everywhere, every day.
