The Surgical Technology Program starts each fall semester and will be completed in the summer of the following year. The application link below contains a list of instructions to help you on your way to your new career!
Applications will be accepted year-round. However, students who would like to begin the program in the fall must have the application and all supporting documents on file by May 31st.
Applications will be reviewed, and a new class will be selected in the first week of June.
In order to be selected for the fall class, we encourage students to complete Anatomy & Physiology I and II, along with Medical Terminology prior to the start of the program.
The program is considered full-time. Class, Lab and Clinical days are Monday thru Thursday, either 8-4 or 7-3:30.
All shots, CPR, and Criminal Background check will be completed through American Data Base/Complio.
* Must have all three hepatitis-B immunizations prior to beginning of the program.
The Surgical Technology Program does require a HESI exam to be taken prior to May 31.

The Surgical Technology program at Amarillo College follows the standards developed by the American College of Surgeons, the American Hospital Association, the Association of Surgical Technologists, and the Association of Operating Room Nurses. The program is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
