Standard of Progress for Veteran Benefits

The function of the Veterans Services Office is to assist students with completion of proper forms and coordinate the certification procedures for monthly benefits. a) Students receiving VA education benefits must provide official transcripts of all previous colleges attended, military transcripts and DD 214 in order to apply prior credits to current course of study. b) Students receiving VA benefits must attend class and make satisfactory progress to be eligible for benefits. Students will be reported for unsatisfactory progress due to lack of attendance to assure compliance with regulations and to prevent payment of undeserved benefits. c) Students must report to the VA Coordinator each time a change (add/drop) is made to your class schedule. This affects your benefits and the amount(s) received. d) Students may be required to pay back portions of the benefits received if they drop or fail a course or receive a non-punitive grade (I, W, P, NC). e) Students receiving VA benefits are eligible for tutorial assistance and should contact the Veteran Services Office if assistance is needed. Veteran regulations require that a student receiving VA educational benefits select a degree objective and make satisfactory progress toward completion of that objective. Students will only be certified for academic courses that apply to their degree plan. Veterans who earn a cumulative grade point average of less than 2.0 will be placed on probation, and given one semester to achieve the 2.0 requirement. Failure to achieve the 2.0 requirement will result in academic suspension and of benefits for that term.
