Artist Statement

LOVE IRL explores the evolution of human connection as technology advances into the future. Real moments are quietly filtered through screens, layers we don’t always notice. The line between realities is becoming increasingly blurred. This body of work is simple and intimate, yet it evokes feelings of discomfort. It makes you question what it means to “be connected” in the modern day, portraying how connection feels now in a world filtered through screens: still real, still soft, like we’re closely connected but not fully in the same world.

Instructor’s Note

This is the final project in the Photography I course. The assignment is to stage a narrative. It is a challenging assignment, and Brianna was responsible for casting, costume design, scouting locations, directing, and making the photographs. She had a vision for this project, and her ability to go from concept to a finished body of work was remarkable. She knew exactly what she wanted and created an impressive project. – Rene´ West
