Amarillo College Esports Player Wins National Championship inMadden 25

Esports Player Christopher Pettyearned Amarillo College’s first national championship in the National JuniorCollege Athletic Association’s Esports Madden 25.

Petty, a biology major, has been playing Madden since he wassix, and started playing competitively last year by watching YouTube and Twitch.


“When I was not studying, I was playing,” he said. “I waskeeping my eye on the AC team, but they weren’t playing Madden in the oldleague. When they joined NJCAA, I saw they had Madden and joined.”

 

To get to the final round, Petty played in the regular seasononce a week, then advanced to regional playoffs and then national playoffs wereplayed last week. 

 

“Christopher showcased incredible skill and determination,” saidChristopher George, AC instructor of cyber security and Esports advisor. “It’snot easy to go undefeated in a season with such great players.”

 

Petty’s Twitch game tag is CORONAGOAT, where he has the link to hisnational win.

 

George said being in the NJCCA is giving AC students ways to explore the careerpossibilities in competitive gaming, and the video game industry.

Madden,a sports-game simulation named after John Madden who was a famous footballcoach and television commentator.
