Position Description: Bell is seeking a Communications Co-op interested in Strategic Communications. The position will support the implementation of a communications strategy designed to drive employee and community engagement throughout several communications channels.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist with efforts to define, develop, manage and execute integrated communications strategies involving community and employee engagement opportunities, program updates, employee services, etc.
- Assist in preparing for customer experience engagements such as onsite visits or tours and community partnerships.
- Serve as the liaison between communications and functional organizations within the business for site specific and corporate level projects.
- Ensure that communication activities are carried out in a consistent and efficient manner in accordance with company commitments and corporate standards.
- Drive internal brand recognition and reputation management objectives through multiple communications tools and branding standards.
- Understand audiences and identify the best ways to reach them pulling from all forms of media.
Qualifications:
- Proof-Reading and editing skills, proficient in AP Style
- Position requires a strategic thinker with the ability to tailor communications approach to maximize results.
- Candidates must have the ability to:
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Demonstrate success in organizing, writing and executing communications plans.
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others at all levels including management, multidisciplinary functions, and diverse individuals.
- Work under pressure, establish schedules and meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
- Plan and implement effective employee communications.
- Analyze and evaluate sensitive situations accurately, using good judgment to determine relations consequences and recommend effective courses of action.
- Deal with ambiguity, working independently and as a team player.
Education Requirements:
- Must be a full-time student enrolled in a university and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher at the time of the Co-op Program
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or English strongly preferred.
- 3.0 minimum overall, undergraduate GPA is strongly preferred.
Other General Requirements:
- Must be able to fulfill the full length of the Co-op Program (September 2020 – May 2021).
- Able to work part-time (10-20 hrs/week) while attending school. Hours are flexible and can be tailored to the student’s school schedule; however, all hours must be worked within a standard work week for the facility (Monday – Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm).
- Strong writing and speaking skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence within all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, recommend and suggest courses of action to be taken.
- Ability to take initiative, multitask and complete projects, all while remaining flexible and responsive when faced with multiple, time-sensitive requests.
- Excellent project management skills to include organizing, planning and execution experience, including experience managing outside agencies and vendors.
- Motivated, detail-oriented and self-directed to deliver high quality results.
- Creativity, interpersonal savvy and the ability to manage diversity.
- Proof-Reading and editing skills, proficient in AP Style.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Ideal Candidates Also Have:
- Prior work experience.
- Photoshop or photo editing basics.
