Records & CEUs

  • The Registrar’s Office records Continuing Education (CE) courses you have taken, and a transcript of those courses will be provided upon request. 
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded for designated Continuing Education Classes. One CEU is “defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction” (THECB, Glossary of Terms, 2023). 
  • Students in CE classes for which CEUs are awarded will qualify for one of the following: S – Satisfactory, U – Unsatisfactory. Students in non-CEU bearing classes, courses generally designed for personal enrichment and enjoyment, do not receive grades.

Bacterial Meningitis Requirement

  • Students registered in a CE program that is 360 contact hours or more may be required to show evidence of an initial bacterial meningitis vaccine or booster dose. More information can be found on our Admissions page regarding this requirement.

Enrollment Eligibility Notice

Students with outstanding obligations to Amarillo College may not be allowed to enroll in or complete a Continuing Education course until the obligation is fulfilled. Students who have received a Criminal Trespass Warning from Amarillo College will not be allowed to enroll in courses held on any AC campus unless the warning has been lifted. 

Senior Citizen Waiver

Senior Citizens who are 65 or older qualify for tuition waivers of eligible CE courses. A Senior Citizen must complete the Continuing Education Registration Form (pdf). Ineligible courses include all Personal Enrichment courses and most Workforce continuing education courses that are less than seven clock hours in length.

TPEG Funding

TPEG funding for certain CEU credit bearing CE classes is available to eligible students. Student eligibility is based on demonstrated need and is limited to student enrollment in an occupation specific state funded course. TPEG funds do not cover textbooks or supplies. The AC Financial Aid Office will determine individual approval and oversee the disbursement of TPEG funds. Any student with a diagnosed disability is eligible to apply for Disability Services. Visit the office at the Enrollment Center on the Washington Street campus, call them at (806) 345-5639 or email them at acdisability@actx.edu.

Linked Courses

If a student registers through workforce or professional continuing education, they earn continuing education units (CEUs) for designated classes, not semester credit hours (SCHs). If students wish to receive SCHs, they must enroll through the College’s credit registration program. 

Class Cancelation

Amarillo College reserves the right to cancel a class or classes when necessary. 

Inclement Weather

In the event that severe weather conditions are present, the president of the AC may find it necessary to close the College. Students and faculty are advised to listen to local radio and television stations for announcements and updates. Refund Policy

Amarillo College Refund Policy

Unless otherwise stated in brochures, flyers, or other promotional materials, AC Continuing Education Refund Policy is as follows:

  • Students must request to drop a course by the refund deadline to receive a refund. 
  • Refunds are not given for non-attendance. 
  • Refunds are processed within 10 days from date of request. 
  • If a class is canceled, the student automatically receives a 100 percent refund. 

Classes with fewer than three class meetings

Until the close of business, the last working day prior to the beginning date of the class: 100 percent refunds will be given.

Classes with three or more class meetings

Until the close of business, the last working day prior to the date of the third class meeting: 100 percent refunds will be given.
NoteNo Refunds will be given On or After the Third-Class Day.
