Theatre Steps Philosophy

A theatre conservatory is a program that trains actors/singers/dancers in all aspects of theatre needed for the student’s success in the field.  Strict attention is paid to small class sizes for individualized attention. ACCT staff, all performance and in-classroom veterans, will guide the students in preparation for rehearsal and performance demands. Classes are available for the beginning actor/singer/dancer and as our students progess, classes will be offered for the advanced student preparing for a career path in theatre performance.

THEATRE STEPS are subject-specific, and each step prepares the student for the next learning level.  Curriculum included: theatre language; character analysis; character movement and voice development; script reading and analysis; scene studies; fundamentals of reading music; sightreading skills; ensemble and solo performance for the singer; introduction to Musical Theatre dance; tricks of the trade for dance auditions; audition-only classes for intensive work.

Conservatory-style showcases will be presented at the end of each semester.

Each instructor has worked endless hours with young theatre students as an instructor in the classroom or side by side on stage.  The mission of ACCT and its staff is to help build the student’s confidence as theatre skills are developed.
