9:30AM - 10 30AM Students practice how to work their audition music as a monologue. Each student will be given a song to work, first as an actor, then as an actor/singer.

10:30AM - 11:30AM The importance of the partnership between accompanist and singer and how to present audition music to the accompanist as well as how to best present themselves at an audition will be discussed.
Mila Abbasova , Professor of Piano and Music Theory at WTAMU School of Music, has been part of the International Music world for almost 50 years. Her credits include accompanist/conductor for Amarillo College Theatre School for Children, Amarillo Opera, Civic Amarillo Summer Youth Musicals and Amarillo College Music Department.
11:45AM - 12:45AM Explore the life of the singer/actor from audition to rehearsal and performance. The class will be participatory and discussion will include singer’s anxiety, frustration, and the thrill of success.
Kylie Howell is currently the theatre director at Canyon High School. Kylie has a BA in Theatre Education from WTAMU. She has performed with ALT, Amarillo College, Amarillo Opera, Summer Youth Musicals.
9:30AM - 10:30AM Ray will help the students cut a 16 and 32 bar musical audition selection. All supplies including musical scores will be supplied.
Ray Newburg is no stranger to the Amarillo theatre community. Ray teaches Theatre Arts at Amarillo College. Ray spent ten years in Dallas/Ft. Worth and New Orleans where he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Ray has performed at AC, AC Summer Arts Festival, ALT, Merely Players, Texas Wesleyan University. He has directed for AC, Merely Players and Delta Psi Omega.
10:30AM - 11:30AM Monty will discuss the partnership of singer/actor and director during the audition process and through rehearsal and performance.
Monty Downs: (AA, BA, MA) has been a part of the AC Theatre faculty for more than 40 years. He currently serves as theatre instructor, technical director, and director of two shows per year.
11:45AM - 12:45AM Parker will give the student insight into the partnership between conductor and singer. The students will learn what is expected of them from auditions through rehearsal and performance. Each student will receive a conductor’s baton.
Parker Bowen is the Associate Minister of Music at First Baptist church. He holds a Master of Music in conducting and a Bachelor of Choral Music Education from Baylor University.
9:30AM - 10 30AM Students will learn, rehearse and perform an acapella piece. All music will be provided
Amber Dewey: Professional actor/singer; graduate of Dartmouth where she conducted the acapella choir her Junior and Senior years. Amber has traveled the world working in opera and musical theatre.
10:30AM - 11:30AM Effectively cutting just the right monologue for auditions and class projects will be discussed. Monologues will be supplied.
Kelsey Landry: Amarillo College Conservatory Theatre Director of Education and Creative Development. Kelsey has a BA in theatre performance from WTAMU and has performed on various theatre stages in the Panhandle.
11:45AM - 12:45AM Cadence will address and discuss the choices and the decisions facing talented young people who have chosen theatre/opera/dance as a career.
Cadence Lowery-Hart is a student of vocal performance at Amarillo College and has been training and performing since early childhood. Talented as an artist, violin player and writer, Cadence knows what it’s like to make educational choices.
