Logistics Training Center - Truck Driving

Classes in Amarillo, Dumas and Hereford


Truck DrivingThe Transportation Industry is growing and there is a high demand for well-trained drivers. This five-week course utilizes state-of-the-art simulator training, classroom instruction, range and road driving, and practical application of skills used in the operation of a tractor/trailer.   


  1. Student must be 18 years of age at the commencement of the course
  2. Student must have a current valid Texas Drivers License
  3. Student must have in possession first day of class a valid original Social Security Card        
  4. Texas Department of Public Safety fees for Commercial Drivers License and permit are included in tuition. 
  5. Student will be required to take a DOT physical on the first day of class. Cost of the physical is included. If the student cannot pass the physical, they will receive a course refund, less the cost of the physical and the Defensive Driving Course.

Students completing the course will have a Class A Commercial Drivers License with tanker, doubles/triples, hazmat, and school and passenger bus endorsements. Students also trained by National Safety Council Certified instructors on Defensive Driving for large trucks and forklift operation. To obtain a Certificate of Completion, the student must pass all Texas Department of Public Safety requirements for a Class A Commercial Drivers License issued by the State of Texas. Upon completion of the course, the student will be qualified to secure an entry level job as an over-the-road operator with a Commercial Drivers License. Amarillo College is not an employment agency, nor do we guarantee the Texas Department of Public Safety will issue a license. However, students have ample opportunity and help to talk with visiting recruiters, apply for employment, and pass DPS testing. In person registration only at the Truck Driving Academy, East Campus Logistics Training Center, Room 500.

Tuition and Fees (DOT physical examination, driver license costs and school bus and passenger license are included in the fees)

Please note that the HAZMAT background check is an additional charge and is not included in the fees.
