The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does NOT include living expenses, books, or supply fees.
Beginning Fall 2014, students receiving the exemption must be meeting the institution's financial aid GPA requirement. This requirement is a 2.0 cumulative GPA. These provisions will apply to veterans, the children and spouses of disabled veterans, and Legacy students.

Individuals may receive both Hazlewood and Pell or SEOG at the same time.
Amarillo College is approved by the Texas Education Agency to offer instruction to students attending college under the various laws. Eligible students should contact the Veterans Certification Clerk, in the Registrar’s Office, prior to registration to obtain needed information relative to their benefits, enrollment and certification of attendance.
