Amarillo College Foundation

The Sybil B. Harrington Scholarships support outstanding students from the Texas Panhandle who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

To qualify for the Fall 2026 awards, applicants must:

• Be a 2026 high school graduate from one of the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle
• Enroll full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours)
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Eligible Applicants

Scholarships are awarded to the following types of students:

1. High school graduates planning to attend an accredited four-year Texas college or university
2. High school graduates planning to attend Amarillo College
3. Current Amarillo College students or previous Harrington recipients who:

• Have completed at least two years at AC or earned 60 credit hours, and
• Wish to renew the scholarship for up to two additional years at a four-year Texas college or university. For this specific application, please contact Kay Campbell at kaycampbell@actx.edu.​

Application Requirements

Applicants must complete all sections of the online application and include the following:

• Reference Form – Completed and signed by a teacher, counselor, or principal. Provide their email address within your application.
• Statement of Personal (Financial) Need Form – Completed and signed by the “Head of Household.” Provide their email address within your application.

Required Attachments

Applicants must also upload or attach the following materials to their online application:

• A headshot or profile photograph
• An official transcript (through Fall 2025)
• ACT and/or SAT scores
• A minimum two-page, double-spaced essay describing your:
  • College and career goals
  • Planned major and reasons for choosing it
  • Future aspirations and expectations

Important: Do not use special characters or spaces in file names for any uploaded attachments.

Submit a copy of the first two pages of your 2024 federal tax return (with all Social Security numbers removed).

This form must be faxed, mailed, or delivered directly to the Amarillo College Foundation.
