Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a class must:

  • consult with their instructor to obtain a signed academic withdrawal request form to submit to the AskAC department for processing
  • consult with the financial aid office if receiving financial aid
  • consult with the Veterans Benefit Coordinator if receiving veteran benefits
  • consult with their academic advisor to determine how withdrawing may affect their enrollment in future semesters
    • NOTE:  The Texas Education Code stipulates that students attending Texas institutions of higher education for the first time fall 2007 and later may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career, including courses from which transfer students have withdrawn at other Texas institutions of higher education. (Senate Bill 1231) Rule 4.10.

Course Description

A study of appropriate infant and toddler (birth to 3 years) programs, including an overview of development, quality caregiving routines, appropriate environments, materials and activities, and teaching/guidance techniques.

Textbook purchased from the AC Bookstore.

The student will also need access to the internet and Blackboard Learning for other resources needed during the semester.

Student Performance

1)  Summarize prenatal development and the birth process.

Weekly Quizzes and Exams =  25% of Final Grade
Participation in Weekly Online Discussions and Assignments = 25% of Final Grade
Projects = 50% of Final Grade

Grading Scale
A = 100 -- 90
B =   89 -- 80
C =   79 -- 70
D =   69 -- 65
F =    64 -- 0 

 

In order to pass the class, all 4 projects have to be completed --  combined they account for 50% of your final grade.  Not doing one will adversely effect your final grade!

Attendance

This is an online class. All assignment, projects, and exams will be done online. It is the student’s responsibility to log in at least 3-4 times each week, check dates on the syllabus and complete assignments, quizzes, and exams on scheduled dates. Late assignments are not accepted.   

  • Your participation helps you learn more, makes the class more meaningful and be more successful.
  • Feel free to ask questions. I am here to help you.
  • Respect and honesty guide this course.
  • There is peer tutoring available to you at no cost. The Writer’s Corner staff will help you prepare written assignments.  Let the instructor know if you need assistance.
  • If for some reason you are unable to complete this course, be sure to notify the instructor and the Registrar’s Office before the last day to drop a class.
  • Please use correct grammar when completing assignments. Capitalize the beginning of each sentence, names and punctuate.  

 

This is an online class and weekly completion of all discussion forums and chapter quizzes are expected to be completed on time each week.  Modules are due on Sunday nights at 11:59.  I understand that life happens and there are emergencies that come up. All modules are open so you can work ahead if the opportunity arises. Please don’t wait until the last minute  to start your homework for the week.

Discussion forums will not be available to post to after the date/time deadline.  Please read carefully and be aware of when things are due.
