EKG Technician

About

An EKG Technician assists patients through cardiac stress tests and monitoring to provide vital information to the cardiologist for determining appropriate medical intervention.

EKG Tech classes are offered in the Fall and Spring semesters only.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Meet with Student Coordinator
  2. Complio - Immunizations, Background Check, Drug Screen

The Complio website provides an all-in-one compliance tracking program on one platform. Complio is compatible with Chrome and Firefox browsers only. The average time to process is 5–10 days, but can take longer depending on demand.

  • Criminal Background Check = $48
  • Drug Screen = $32
  • Immunizations = $20

Required Include

Note: All shots must be completed and current to be able to register for these programs.

  1. Tetanus-Diphtheria (May look like TD, TDap, DTap, or DT on a shot record. Must have been given within the last 10 years.)
  2. Measles* (2 doses must be recorded on shot record)
  3. Mumps*
  4. Rubella*
  5. Hepatitis B (3-shot series must be completed)
  6. Chickenpox Titer OR Varicella vaccination
  7. TB Test (Dated within the last 12 months)
  8. Flu shot (seasonal)
  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Register – Pay

Classes are held Monday & Wednesday from 6:00 PM–9:00 PM.

Curriculum

  • ECRD-1011: EKG Telemetry Monitor Tech – 42 hrs.
  • ECRD-1091: EKG Technician – 72 hrs. (Includes 24 hrs. Clinical)

Program Total: 114 Hours

*Note: Must take both courses for EKG certification
