Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

DRAM-1352-001 Acting II
<p>Prerequisite: DRAM 1351</p>
Exploration and further training within the basic principles and tools of acting, including an emphasis on critical analysis of oneself and others. The tools include ensemble performing, character and script analysis, and basic theater terminology. This will continue the exploration of the development of the actor's instrument: voice, body and imagination.

Students enrolled in an educational program in preparation for obtaining certain occupational licenses are potentially ineligible for such license if the student has been convicted of an offense. For further information, please contact your advisor, the Legal Clinic, or the faculty member in charge of the educational program that you seek to enroll in. The further information you will receive will include notification to you of your right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the licensing authority in order to clarify your particular situation.

Students will discuss acting as a profession (audition techniques, resumes, and information sources) and work to prepare 4 audition monologues and 1 audition song. In addition, students will intensively work on a duet scene utilizing the Sandford Meisner technique.
By the end of the course the student will:
* add four monologues into his/her audition repertoire;
* add one audition song into his/her repertoire;
* have a resume;
* have a deeper understanding of the Sandford Meisner technique;
* be able to perform any of the the 4 monologues and/or song at a moment's notice.
In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .
If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".
Each student is expected to choose and memorize 4 monologues and 1 song from a musical (details to be discussed on the first day of class) and when the Sandford Meisner technique begins each student will memorize the assigned role from the duet scene chosen by the instructor.
If a student misses a graded performance date, he/she will have one week to make-up the performance with a 15-point deduction. It is the responsibility of the student to make-up any missed performances.
Students will help grade fellow students throughout the semester. The grading is as follows:
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = 59 and below

15% Jury
30% Monologues/Song
10% Resumé
5% Headshot
Grading for all monologues, song, and Meisner scene (with exception of Final Jury performance) will be as follows: %40 fellow students, %60 instructor.
Attendance is very important to the development of the actor in this course. Therefore, a stringent attendance policy will be enforced. Each student is allowed two (2) absences without consequence. However, for each absence after that the student's final grade will be dropped one letter grade. For example, a student earning an "A" in the course work but missing 3 classes will receive a "B" for the final grade in the class.

Final exam will be during Departmental Juries: Each student in this class will need to sign up for a Jury when the Sign-up sheet goes up on the call board.
1) the student will have all monologues and song from the semester ready for performance;
2) the student will choose one scene/song and
3) present the Jury with a list of the other scenes/song upon arrival;
4) the Jury will choose one other scene/song;
5) the student will then present an audition with the two scenes/song.
