During the Summer, I am available by appointment only in the office.  But, we can schedule a phone or virtual meeting anytime!

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Practical, general workplace training supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer, college and student.

Department Expectations

End-of-Course Outcomes: As outlined in the learning plan, apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry; and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry.

The student will also need access to the internet and Blackboard Learning for other resources needed during the semester.

  1. Observe young children on a weekly basis.
  2. Collect information regarding administration of classroom duties.
  3. Collect information regarding support of child and family members.
  4. Compare and contrast the quality of interactions between adult and child.
  5. Show evidence of high quality in classrooms observed.

Grading Criteria
Completion of 220 clock hours of classroom observation = 50% of Final Grade
Completion of all External Learning Experience forms = 20% of Final Grade
Participation in Weekly Online Discussions = 10% of Final Grade
Weekly Quizzes = 20% of Final Grade 

(The lowest two quiz and discussion grades will be dropped at the end of the course.)

Attendance

This is a hybrid class and weekly completion of all discussion forums and chapter quizzes are expeted to be completed on time, on line, each week.

The online portion of the class will run from Tuesday afternoons through Monday evenings at 11pm.  That means, all course work for that particular module will be due at 11pm on Monday evenings.  I understand that life happens and there are emergencies that come up, however, you have an entire week to complete the homework, so please don’t wait until the last minute (Monday night) to start your homework for the week. The lowest two quiz and discussion grades will be dropped at the end of the course.

Discussion forums will not be available to post to after the date/time deadline.  Please read carefully and be aware of when things are due.

Your participation in class and online helps you learn more and makes the class more interesting.

You need to schedule time during each week to complete your coursework as if you were attending an in person class weekly.

Honesty, integrity, and respect will guide this course.  You are expected to treat all participants with respect at all times.  In discussing controversial issues, it is important that students feel comfortable expressing their opinion, yet it is imperative that students refrain from using derogatory or offensive language.

Read assigned chapters, view the chapter power point presentations, and participate in discussion forums every week.

Complete weekly learning activities and exams over course content.

Attend the scheduled in-class meetings as indicated in the schedule and actively participate in discussions.

Keep in mind that grades are not given.  Grades are earned based on student performance.  Please note the requirements for earning the grade you desire and act accordingly throughout the semester.  If you complete the coursework in a timely fashion, there isn’t a reason for you not to successfully complete this course.

Assignments and exams are due on the dates stated.

Late work and make-up assignments/exams are up to the instructor’s discretion.   Most likely after a module closes, late work and make-up work will not be accepted.   However, if permission is granted, assignments will lose 20% of their original value each day an assignment is late.
