Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Course Description

Describes the architecture, components, and basic operation of routers and explains the basic principles of routing and routing protocols.  It also provides an in-depth understanding of how switches operate and are implemented in the LAN environment for small and large networks.

Expected Student Behavior

It is the policy of the Career and Technical Education Division and the Electronics Program that pagers and cell phones must be turned off or in silent mode in the classroom setting and pagers and cell phones must be turned off while in labs.

It is the policy of the Career and Technical Education Division and the Electronics Program that food and drink may be allowed in the classroom setting, at the discretion of the instructor, but food and drink are not allowed in labs.

A = 90 to 100, B = 80 to 89, C = 70 to 79, D = 60 to 69, F = Below 60

The opportunity to make-up an exam and/or lab will be determined by the circumstances of each individual, permitted at the discretion of the instructor.

The time and place for a make-up test will be determined by the instructor.

Students who miss gradable coursework due to an absence will be given the opportunity to make up the missed work, with the exception of the final exam. The final exam may be taken early if prior arrangements have been made. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor as soon as possible after return to class to arrange to make up missed coursework.

INSTRUCTOR'S STATEMENT: As your instructor, I am always willing to discuss your grades with you and explain how your grade was determined. If a grading error has been made on my part, I am always willing to correct the error.

Attendance

  • Check your email daily.  The email address used by your instructor is the @amarillocollege.com email issued to each AC student.
  • Complete assignments by the scheduled date/time.  There is a "no late work" policy, except in extreme circumstances.
  • Attendance for on-campus classes will be taken during each class period. Attendance for online classes will be monitored by access log-in dates recorded in Blackboard and uCertify.  Excessive absence and lack of participation may result in failure of the course.
  • Students should plan on spending a minimum of 10-12 hours per week on this course, outside of class. Actual amounts will vary depending on weekly assignments and topic complexity. Please schedule your time, so that you are able to devote the appropriate energy and effort to achieve success in this course.

Note: Students must complete packet tracers and chapter exams at home by midnight on the day before the next class meeting. All hands on labs will be performed in class unless otherwise instructed. Late work will be graded at negative 5 points per day after due date. Late work will not be accepted after the 7th late day and will be recorded as a “zero” in the grade book. Exams cannot be made up unless previously approved by the instructor.
