The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Laboratory experience in radio operation and announcing by broadcasting on the college radio station, KACV-FM.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR RTVB 1150:
1) 500 points of your grade will come from your board shifts (Two 2-hour shifts per week) - 16 minimum (25 points each) and 2 completed production assignments (50 points each)
2) 500 points of your grade will come from the following:
100 points - Two air checks presented for critique
100 points - Mastery of radio formatics
100 points - Attitude, professionalism and teamwork
100 points - One live promotional assignment
Additional Information
1. Two Airchecks
a. Students must arrange air check critiques with instructor within ten days of aircheck. Students will not get credit if critiques do not take place within time limit. Air checks will be held at least every 6 weeks. But all shifts may be air checked.
b. Students will have 14 days to complete production assignments such as promos, PSAs, etc... Students will not get credit if assignments aren’t completed during time limit.
2. Mastery of Radio Formatics
a. Mastering formatics include 1/4 hour maintenance, playing correct songs, smooth song to song execution, backsells, ID’s, contests, raps, correct artist identification and being on time for air shifts.
b. The following point deductions or “fouls” will occur for formatic or procedure failures:
Breaking Playlist 25 points
Missed ID 25 points
No Aircheck Saved 20 points
Incomplete Logs 10 points
Stepped on Songs 5 points
No “FM90" 10 points
Incorrect Contest Procedures 5 points
Talking Out of Promos 10 points
Ego flare-ups or temper tantrums 25 points (More than 2 instances will result in suspension)
3. Attitude, Professionalism and Teamwork
a. Any violations of a policy in the FM-90 Operations Manual will result in a loss of 100 points in this category. Two or more policy violations will result in on-air probation and/or supervision. Policy violations include logging procedures, EAS activations and tests, etc. Suspension will occur for students under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. Students may be reinstated after review with instructor, general manager and department chair.
b. All jocks are expected to sign-on and sign-off FM90 at least once per semester. All jocks are expected to run the board for a syndicated program at least once per semester. Waivers will be granted only in extenuating circumstances
c. All block format jocks must also pull one alternative music board shift per week. Waivers will be granted only in extenuating circumstances.
4. Promotional Assignment
Minimum of one live remote or other promotional assignment. Assignments by Program Director. Schedule of these assignments will be dictated by activities on campuses of Amarillo College. Jocks may discuss promotional ideas or assignments with Program Director.

SCHEDULED MEETINGS:
Attendance at scheduled jock meetings is essential. Air shift scheduling, station operational policies, promotional plans and related activities will be discussed. You may miss 2 jock meetings with no penalty, however you must still make up any shifts or production assignments. Missing 3 or more meetings will result in a letter reduction from your final grade.
Failure to pull (or have covered) an assigned board shift will result in a two week suspension. If a situation which prevents you from pulling your shift is unavoidable, it is your responsibility to find someone to cover it, but you must notify the program director of the change before it occurs. Failure to provide notification of a change will result in a ten point deduction from your final grade.
Live remotes on location at events are essential to being a great broadcaster. You are required to do ONE remote during the semester. Remotes will be announced as they become available. The PD will email you with details of remotes.
