The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Safety Glasses required on the first class day and each time entering and working in the lab-shop.You will be sent to retrieve your glasses if they are not brought with your daily. Leave a extra pair in your vehicle. Safety Glasses are required on field trips when inside working shops.

An introductory course designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge of proper servicing practices.Content includes record keeping and determining condition of major systems.
The student will work through the Ryder P.M.I. maintenance tests and procedures. Student will apply preventive maintenance practices, perform preventive maintenance on systems, and practice appropriate record keeping.
We will discuss and test over chapters 10-13 and 29, ASE format multiple choice.
Utilize ASE test questions in chapter testing and N.A.T.E.F. competency’s in the class lab and engine lab to prepare students for a through understanding of the subject.
Shop assignments, hands on skills, some open book tests.
Workbook assignment 10-13 and 29, turned in on test day for grade.
Wearing required shirt and safety glasses each day is part of daily participation and can effect final grade.

Safety glasses and Amarillo shirt are required in the shop... and for the class. No exceptions... Policy.
If safety glasses are not worn in the lab, you will receive a failing grade and be dismissed from that class. This is required by employers in the diesel field and is Amarillo College and Federal policy on workplace safety.

Maturity, honesty and respect is required and given.
Cleaning your work area each day and teamwork is required and part of your daily grade.
Students must come to class wearing the appropriate AC uniform shirts.
Students will be respectful of other classes being conducted in the building, respectful of their peers, and of the instructor.
Students are expected to dress appropriately (shirts tucked in, no profanity on clothing, no holes in clothing) and clothing must appear to be laundered regularly.
50%- Average of your test grades and includes workbook assignments to be turned in on day of Final.
50%- Total grade for hands on completion of shop project and Class Attendance.
Class attendance and hands on skills is required to pass, not just a test score
A = 90 to 100 B = 80 to 89 C = 70 to 79 D = 60 to 69 F = Below 60
Class attendance is mandatory and will effect final grade. Learning all the tricks of the trade will only come from attending lectures and hands on instruction.
Missing more than 3 classes will result in repeating the class and failing the course.

MODULE 2 Lecture and discuss chapter 12 and 13. Workbook assignment 12-13. Start Ryder PMI program to supplement class instruction, including daily test over each unit in the PMI program covered.
(1) Lecture and discuss chapter 12, introduce Ryder PMI procedures, Shop work.
(2) Lecture and discuss chapter 13, start individual PMI written assignments and tests.
(3) Watch PMI film, work in class on PMI test modules.
(4) PMI test module, shop hands on projects.
Module 3... Lecture and discuss chapter 27. Workbook assignment chapter 27. Continue Ryder PMI supplemental material and follow-up with hands on testing in shop setting on Mack truck. Lecture and daily testing over Ryder PMI material and follow-up in the shop to help develop skills.... Lecture and Hands on training on the various PMI procedures and accompanying video material. Review material for final.
