Attendance

Attendance

Checking In:

Students must check-in weekly with the instructor by Zoom, text, or email.

Live Events:

Yellow City Sounds Live Concerts in PPBS Studio: Calendar will be updated as these are scheduled. Radio II students will participate in helping set up studio and record audio and video of the concerts as a production exercise.

Discussion Questions:

Attendance and participation will now be graded based on online discussion questions. These will be updated weekly. You will be required to write two responses each week to the discussion question posted in Blackboard. Your responses must answer the discussion question (i.e., your first response) and also react to the discussion posts of your classmates (i.e., your second response). However, you are more than welcome to pose other questions to bring about other discussions in a separate post. In order to receive full marks in the discussion, your post should incorporate the knowledge gleaned from lectures. Posts without in-depth responses (approx. 100 wds.) will not receive a grade—that being the case, you need to write more than “I agree” or “I disagree.”

Live Remotes:

Students will be required to do at least one “Remote From Home” exercise. The student will need to simulate a remote broadcast via Zoom or phone call with the instructor.

Additionally, the following policies must be observed:

1.  Failure to pull an assigned board shift may result in a deduction from your final grade and may result in suspension from FM90. If a situation which prevents you from pulling your shift is unavoidable, it is your responsibility to find someone to cover the time. You will not be penalized for getting someone to cover the shift, but the Program Director must be aware of all changes prior to going on the air.

2.  FM90 air personalities are required to be aware of and follow the FM90 Operations Manual, Amarillo College policies, Matney Mass Media policies, and FCC operational rules. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in Immediate suspension from the air for an indefinite period of time.

Each student is responsible for any change in course status (drops, credit/non-credit, etc.). The Veteran's Office will be notified when students attending class with federal funds miss significant course work adversely affecting their final grade.

Additional Information

School and Government Policy: Due to the nature of the radio industry (government licensed), it is imperative that you understand and follow both school policy and FCC regulations regarding the operation of KACV-FM.  You must sign and return 1) The attached form and 2) the form attached to the operations manual. Both must be turned in immediately.  Failure to follow these rules will result in withdrawal from the class.  NO EXCUSES!

“Any student who, because of a disabling condition, may require some special arrangements in order to meet course requirements should contact Accessibility Services (L101, Phone 371-5436) as soon as possible.”
