The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

It is the responsibility of the student to access the course on a regular basis, participate and complete required assignments, quizzes and exams.
It is the responsibility of the student to officially drop or withdraw from a course. Failure to officially withdraw may result in the student receiving a grade of "F" in the course. Academic dishonesty shall constitute a violation of the college rules and regulations and is punishable as prescribed by Amarillo College board policies. Academic dishonesty shall include, but is not limited to, cheating on a test, plagiarism, and collusion.

'Plagiarism" shall be defined as the appropriating, buying, receiving as a gift, or obtaining by any means another's work and the unacknowledged submission or incorporation of it in one's own written work.

Quizzes will be given over each chapter in the textbook and computer modules.
There will be 18 quizzes during this course.
All 18 Quizzes will be found in the Quiz Folder located under Course Content, Quiz Folder in AC Connect (Blackboard).

The student is responsible for keeping track of quiz and exam dates.
DO NOT depend on the instructor to remind students of the quiz and exam dates.
Time limit for quizzes 1 - 18 is 50 MINUTES.

There will be 8 exams, made up of 7 major exams and a Final Exam.

The 7 Major Exams will be found in the Exam Folder located under Course Content, Exam Folder in AC Connect (Blackboard).
Each exam is worth 100 possible points. Time Limit to complete a major exam is 80 minutes.

Major Exams will OPEN @ 6:00 pm on the assigned date.
Major Exams will CLOSE @ 11:59 pm on the assigned date.
Once an exam is started the clock is running and the exam cannot be paused. The student will be able to see the exam grade after the exam has been submitted.
The lowest major exam grade will be dropped if the student has completed** ALL seven (7) major exams AND has completed** the Final Exam for the course.
Please note Exam 7 will not be considered as a dropped exam.
**Completed means ALL questions in the exam have been answered.
If for any reason a student has not COMPLETED ALL seven (7) major exams the missed exam will be recorded as a zero (0) and there will be NO dropped exam grade!
Any student who misses an exam will receive a grade of zero (0) for the missed exam.
THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UPS ON MISSED EXAMS.
MAJOR EXAMS ARE WORTH 60% OF THE FINAL GRADE.
Mandatory Tutoring :
In an effort to increase retention in Allied Health courses, any student who scores below a 70% on any exam (excluding the Final Exam week) must complete a mandatory tutoring session with his/her instructor before taking the next exam.
Before receiving a session, students must first schedule a time with the instructor.
Mandatory sessions will be for 1 hour. TUTORING IS MANDATORY.
The student will have a COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM, WHICH IS WORTH 20% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.
The Final Exam will be 250 questions.
The Final Exam will cover Chapters 1-18 (Textbook) and Computer Modules 1-18.
The student will have 3 hours OR 180 minutes to complete the Final Exam.
Once the Final Exam has started the clock is running. The Final Exam must be completed in the 180 minute time limit. The Final Exam cannot be paused the clock will keep running!
Please refer to the course syllabus for the Final Exam date.
The student will be able to see the exam grade after the exam has been submitted. The Final Exam is worth 100 possible points.
If the STUDENT misses the designated time for the FINAL EXAM, a grade of zero (0) will be given for the exam, unless an incomplete has been granted. Arrangements to receive an incomplete "I" grade for the course must be made prior to the date of the final exam and appropriate documentation given to the instructor. Incompletes are granted only for emergency situations such as hospitalization of the student, serious injury to the student on the day of the final exam, etc. Incompletes will not be granted for situations involving vacation plans, appointments, or computer problems, etc.
