The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

Required Supplies
Please refer to the Amarillo College Bookstore for an approved list of required toolkits and supplies. The Technical Education department has compiled several lists that are designed to supply each student with the appropriate tools he or she may need in each level of their program. Toolkits don't have to be purchased at the AC bookstore, but it is the student's responsibility to obtain their tools regardless where they come from.

Department Expectations:
All students in Technical Education are expected to abide by the Professional Code of Conduct. A copy is available on the main content page of the Blackboard course. Students will not be able to attend courses if not in compliance by the third class day.
Communication
The instructor will use AC email as the priary means of communicating with students. Students are responsible for e-mail messages sent to their AC email account; thus, students are responsible for checking their AC email accounts. The instructor will only respond to emails sent from the student's official AC email account and that identify the applicable class in the subject line or first sentence of the email. Further, emails should be professional using proper spelling, grammar, style and format, if the student expects a response.
Academic Integrity
Academic Integrity is vital. Any acts of academic dishonesty will be penalized severely. The instructor has a zero tolerance policy in regard to academic dishonesty.
Respect
Students are expected to display a professional level of respect at all times toward their peers/co-workers, immediate instructor, and any other AC staff.
Grading Criteria:
Students should complete all performance tasks on time at REQUIRED MASTERY LEVEL. Tasks, projects, and various assignments will be scored based on time; accuracy; neatness; completeness; procedure; skill; detail; motivation and attitude; safety practices; clean up; care of manuals, logbooks, and references; and other grading criteria. No task score shall be recorded until assignment is complete. Complete shall include condition and cleanliness of equipment; clean up of work areas; tool condition and return; all projects, supplies and materials being stored properly. Failure to bring books, notes, notebook, and equipment for a given class will result in a loss of grade for that class period. Unless the instructor specifies otherwise, all homework is due at the beginning of the next class.

Students are responsible for getting notes from other students when absent. Lab activities will continue on schedule. There will not be special makeup lab sessions or classes. Missing lab activities may prevent individuals from performing advanced lab exercises for safety and expense reasons.
All assigned homework or lab reports are due at the beginning of the next class session. Assignments turned in after the beginning of class and up to the beginning of the following class session will be penalized 25%. Work turned in later than the beginning of the second session after the due date will receive a 0. If a student is absent when work is assigned, the assignment is still due at the beginning of the following class session or at the first class attended after absence.
Attendance
Attendance in class and lab participation is regarded as a requirement and an obligation for learning.
