I will be in my office available for student meetings Mondays and Wednesdays between 2PM and 3:30PM and Fridays between 10AM and 12PM.. 

Please make an appointment to talk with me if these times do not work for you.  I am available most afternoons, some evenings, and sometimes on weekends.

Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge's and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

Student Performance

In order to complete this class, students are expected to "report for class" on 4 class days.  There are videos recorded on the 22 testable skills for the State of Texas Certified Nurse Aide Competency Exam.  These videos have questions embedded in them, for sudent accountability.  Videos can be viewed at any time during the 2 weeks of class.  There will not be any hands-on performance of these skills during this 2-week class.

Log in using the AC Connect Portal

In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

There will not be any grades of INCOMPLETE given for this class due to the COVID-19 situation.  Successful completion includes the viewing of all 22 skills, and reporting to Google Meet on the scheduled class days.  There will be skills lab times scheduled for students to return to the college and practice skills prior to their testing date.

Grading Criteria

 

  • 30%   ATTENDANCE 
  • 70%   VIDEO VIEWING w/QUIZ     

Attendance

Students will receive a grade of 100 each they

  • meet with an instructor between 9:30am and 11:30am on all 4 scheduled class days  
  • OR
  • Notify Michele prior to missing a class day that there is a conflict

A grade of 85 will be given for students that talk with Michele after the scheduled class time about missing the class (on the same day).

A grade of 50 will be given for students that do not talk to Michele or just do not "report for class".

Calendar

Course shell will become available Tuesday, 4/21.  Grades are to be turned in by noon Wednesday, 4/29.  Any assignments not completed by noon 4/29 will become a "0".

All 22 skills videos are found on BlackBoard and can be viewed at any time during the 2 week time frame.
