3. To develop problem solving skills.

In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .
If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".
Lab reports and smaller lab assignments will be posted online. There will be Zoom meetings to start the lab day at 11:45, with some exceptions (such as lecture class test days). Attend these meetings if possible. After that, students can work on their own and contact the instructor with questions, but students need to keep up with due dates.
Please keep safety in mind as you do any in-person experiments. While we are unable to be in the physical laboratory this semester, students are still required to learn about laboratory safety, rules, and equipment as part of their course experience.
There are three types of grades: Lab Reports, smaller Lab Assignments, and the Lab Final Exam at the end of the course. Some days will have lab reports assigned or due; some days may not. Some lab reports will come from the lab manual, particularly in the second half of the course, with the experiment portion on video or the initial data given to start calculations. ome lab reports will be separate worksheet, computer simulation, and/or household activities. For these, fill out the worksheets posted on Blackboard. Photos may be required if doing a small activity in your home. The lowest lab report grade will be dropped. Any work not done will receive a zero; late work is not accepted unless you have instructor permission.
Lab Assignments include: select prelab and postlab activities from the manual, open book "lab quizzes", and other worksheet activities as assigned. These will be posted on Blackboard; if the assignment is in the lab manual, there will be a drop box there in which to turn in your work. These must be turned in by the due date unless you have permission otherwise. The lowest three lab assignment grades will be dropped.
The lab final exam is open book and notes, and counts for 15% of your grade. Everyone is required to take the final.
Grading breakdown: Lab Reports - 60%. Lab Assignments - 25%. Lab Final - 15%.
Grading scale - A = 90, B = 80, C = 70. D = 60. Grades are rounded to the nearest whole number. Final grades will not be curved.
As previously stated, please attend the Zoom meetings if at all possible, and keep up with the due dates. Attendance will be recorded by participation in labs/ turning in reports and assignments, as well as noted from Zoom meetings.
