This class includes a discussion question every week. Each student must answer the discussion and respond to the answers of two other people. That means you'll need to post at least 3 times for every Discussion question. If you do not post at least three times, you will not get full credit for the discussion. The questions often deal with controversial subjects that require students to think hard about opinions they may take for granted. There are no right or wrong answers. However, I do require students to be respectful of each other's thoughts and opinions. I expect you to disagree, but I also expect you to be civil to each other.
Grading Schema
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = 0-59
Your grade for this class will be based on completion of your weekly homework assignments, your weekly discussions, your Field Project and your Final Exam. Your homework and discussions will count for 40% of your grade. Your Final will count for 40%, and your special assignment will count for the other 20%. Your homework will consist of several questions on the assigned reading for the week. Your grades on homework will depend on how well you answer the questions. There are no right or wrong answers on your discussion questions. However, in order to get full credit, you'll need to answer the questions and respond to the answers of at least 2 other people. I want good responses, not just "I agree with you," or "I don't agree with you." I also expect you to be respectful of each other's opinions in the discussion area. You can disagree with someone without being disrespectful. I encourage lively discussion and I expect you to disagree, but you have to be respectful.
I expect students to spend enough time online each week to read their assignments, do their homework, answer their discussion questions, and respond to the answers of at least two other people.
